Weekly Youth Update: 5/18-5/24

This week, the Homeland Park youth will be continuing our study of Proverbs! Last week, we learned the foundations of Proverbs from Proverbs 1:1-7. We learned how following and obeying the wisdom of the Proverbs grows a Christian in their relationship with God, which is established through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This week, we will learn specific applications from Proverbs which grow a Christian closer to God and bring peace between people! Our Bible study is Wednesday night, 6:30-7:30, in the Loft of the Family Life Center. The gym opens at 6:00 for anyone wanting to hang out beforehand!

Below is a schedule of our summer activities! We pray these events grow us closer to the Lord and continue to deepen relationships. Also, remember our Wednesday night meeting times will still be each week, from 6:30-7:30! Our regular Wednesday night meetings will be just as exciting as the summer socials!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s
