Led By Thankfulness

(Psalm 100:4) Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name.   Worship begins with attitude. The psalmist is writing a charge to all who worship God to approach Him as someone who is thankful for all He has done and is doing in their lives. The truth is, our entire outlook depends on the attitude that we project. Many years ago I remember “Amber” sunglasses came out. I bought a pair and I could not believe how bright everything looked because I was so used to “dark” sunglasses. Although I do not remember what I did with those sunglasses, I do remember the view.   As you approach God in your devotions, Bible studies, worship services, prayer and service, do so with thankfulness. Like this verse says, “Enter His Gates” (You have make the choice to approach Him), “go into His courts with praise” (Be thankful for what He has done before you ask Him to do what you want Him to do). Praise His name! (As you lift Him u

On The Road Again!

Yesterday marked a milestone in our church.   A few of our Senior Adults ventured out to go to see Dennis Swanberg at Seneca Baptist Church and have lunch afterward.  It was a great ministry event!  These ladies are some of the most bravest and courageous women I know because all but two and myself were involved in that horrible accident over a year ago.  We all agreed that we had to get back on the bus to not give the devil or fear victory.  God is greater and I am so proud of these women! - Pastor James

Pastor's Post for September 2017

Fear Not and Hold On The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 (NLT) If there were ever a verse to ponder at this time of year, it would be this one. We must remember that we do have an adversary. Satan’s desire not only wants to hurt you physically, he wants to kill your joy, crush your spirit and strain your relationship with God. Paul talks about this battle in Ephesians 6. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. (Ephesians 6:11-12 NLT) Did you know that God uses the term “Fear Not” 365 times (one for each day.) God reminds us that we are not to fear the Devil, our circumstances, our future, our mission. Yes, we experience a rich and satisfying life

HPBC Youth Corner

HPBC Youth Corner On behalf of the youth of HPBC, I want to thank everyone for the hospitality you all have shown this summer to our youth. From the summer fun events in July to the past month of exploring the God's Not Dead 2 together in the FLC, I loved seeing our youth and adult classes interacting and I hope that there will be more opportunities for our youth to grow with the congregation in the future. As we head back into the school year, we'll be picking up our series going through the book of Exodus. Please pray for our students in this time as they return to school and that they will be examples for Christ in their classes. Nathan O’Neill, Youth Pastor

Hurricane Harvey Relief Love Offering

It is devastating for us to watch all of the people struggling in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Lives and property have been lost and families torn apart. As a church we support efforts to help those affected by disaster in our country through our weekly offering towards the cooperative program and our yearly Annie Armstrong Easter offering. While this helps there is no way our State Baptist Convention and North American Mission Board can meet all this need with what they normally receive. We need to do more! We can pray and we can give. Over the next two weeks we will be giving you an opportunity to give over and above your regular tithes towards the Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort. Your donations will go through our State Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Department to make sure every penny makes it to boots on the ground. Please make checks out to Homeland Park Baptist Church and designate Hurricane Harvey. If you would like to donate directly online go to  goo.gl/fzAQHZ

Her love of teaching, her love for her students, and her love of life all come from the same place: her love of Christ. So when Brooke, a hurting student grieving the loss of her brother, reaches out to Grace, their coffee-shop conversation naturally leads to Grace sharing the hope she finds in Christ. For this, Grace faces an epic court case that could cost her the career she loves and expel God from the classroom and the public square once and for all! *A love offering will be collected to offset the license fees for showing the movie.
