All of the Christmas decorations have been packed, holiday food has been eaten, weight has been added and resolutions have been made.  Some tackle the new year with a fresh outlook, strong start and determined steps while others simply begin the same routine. The only difference between last year and this year is that a year has passed and they are still doing the same things. Paul encourages you as a Christian to look at life differently this year.  Do not simply go with everything the world tells you to value or achieve, but fix your gaze beyond this world. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. [Romans 12:2] God loves you and has a plan for you!  He has placed a calling on you to love Him more and love others.  It will take determination to “renew” our minds from thinking the way we always have.  Seek His wisdom and be brave enough to take advantage of

Let's Go Christmas Caroling on December 13!

Join us again this year for a time of spreading Christmas cheer to our church members who are homebound and in nursing homes. They need to be reminded at Christmas that God loves them and so does their church. We need everyone to meet at the church on Sunday, December 13th at 3:30 PM. We will use the bus and members vehicles to split into caroling groups. You do not have to be a singer to do this, you just need to be willing to spread God’s love to those who need it.

Arthur and Lou Ellen Higgins Sending the shoe boxes to Concord Baptist Church's Drop Off location. Yesterday, sixty-four shoeboxes were sent from our church family to Operation Christmas Child to be distributed all around the world.  Thank you for all who gave and prepared these boxes.  It is amazing to hear stories of how each box ends up in the hands of a specific child that meets their specific needs whether it be a pair of socks, toothbrush, doll or toy car. Pray for the hands that deliver these shoeboxes and for those that receive them.  Thank you church for reaching our world! If you would still like to prepare a shoe box for a child there is still time . You prepare a shoe box and take it to Concord Baptist Church .  Here are the drop off times. Praying for Paris Tonight!

Monday Night Prayer Meeting (Every 1st and 3rd Monday Night of the Month) Tonight we will be specifically be praying for the victims, survivors, governing officials and public servant in Paris in light of their recent attack.  As an American we can emphasize with them after the tragedy that hit our shores on September 11, 2001.  If you remember, there were a lot of people searching for God's hand in the midst of that tragedy and our Parisian brothers and sisters are doing the same.  Pastors and churches need our prayer support.  Sure you can pray where ever you are, but having the encouragement of others while you pray is powerful. We will meet in the Family Life Center tonight at 6:00 pm.  Everyone one is welcome!

Great Events Begin With An Idea

One of the many things I love about pastoring is the way ideas for events come together.  There are many great repetitive events that occur weekly, monthly and yearly, just because that is what the church “has always done”.   However, there are times when God speaks through the imaginations and passions of His people.  Even though they may not realize it at the time. For example, a few weeks ago, one of our members walked into Wednesday Night Bible Study and said, “We need to have a homecoming!”  It came out of the blue, we had not even been talking about it. There is the idea! Granted people will always be filled with ideas and opinions, but when God speaks, people are willing to support that idea .  The person followed their comment with, “ . . . and I’ll be glad to help put it together.” Before you know it after much prayer, some phone calls, emails,  and meetings, we are having homecoming on Sunday, Nov. 1 . Former pastor Dr. Wayne Dickard will be preaching along with som

He Is Able!

[Ephesians 3:20] Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us. Dear Church, I have been so encouraged to see God working through the lives of our members. I cannot thank our congregation enough for making our “Fall Out of Summer Spectacular” go so smoothly. It was refreshing to see many new faces from the community bring their children to the event. School supplies were given to over fifty children that needed them and most importantly, each one heard the gospel presentation.  He Came To Earth He Died For Our Sins He Rose from The Grave He Ascended Into Heaven He Is Coming Back For Us Giving a child school supplies will help them this year, but sharing Jesus with them can change their life. With another month comes greater opportunities. Do not grow faint or be subject to a “little” faith. Know that God is able and He will give you the power and strength to overcome any obstacle you may be d

Weekly Youth Update: 8/24-8/30

What a week! This past Sunday, we hosted our third annual Fall Out of Summer Spectacular! We had a great showing from the community of children and youth joining us for games, food, and school supplies. Most importantly, we gathered students into small groups to share the Gospel by giving them a wristband which will help them remember Jesus’ death and resurrection and tell it to others! Over the past two years, God has mightily used this event to give us new relationships with the community and we pray this continues this year. This Wednesday, the youth will begin our study through 1 John. I am extremely excited to begin this journey through this crucial book of the Bible which will help us understand Jesus’ work for us, the life and evidence of a true Christian, and the assurance we can have in our relationship with God! Bible study is Wednesday night, 6:30-7:30 pm, in the Loft of the Family Life Center. The gym will open at 6:00 beforehand for anyone wanting to hang out!
