Sign Says God Loves You!

Sometimes the most powerful message is the simplest one.  I pray as people from all walks of life and at different places in their walk with the Lord would be encouraged by God's Word. John 3:16 (NLT) “For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." May it encourage you right now as you read it! - Pastor James

Pastor's Post for September 2022 - Vision for God’s Will (Proverbs 29:18)

One of the most misunderstood scriptures that has been taken out of context since the late 1990’s is Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” - KJV. Many try to make this verse mean if you do not have any overarching “vision” statement then an organization will fail.  While I cannot argue with that statement, it is not the reason this verse was written. The truth of this verse means, anywhere someone does not keep the principles of God’s word at the forefront of their lives, then people will go their own way. When people reject God, sin runs wild. We see that at every turn in today’s culture.  Over the next few months you will hear more from me regarding a “vision” for the future of our church.  You can rest assured it will be rooted in keeping God’s word at the forefront of our lives.  If you are not actively seeking to obey God’s word, there will be no hope for our church to do the same.  Keep His word and will close to yo

God Walks With You - Pastor's Post for August 2022

God Walks With You! The month of August is a pivotal month.  The summer is winding down and for many families the reality of the grind is approaching.  School schedules, day care, jobs, and other commitments resume as the hopes of cooler weather approach.  For students, another year in school offers a chance to start fresh.  Whether you are looking for a new start or simply getting back into the grind, take comfort in the fact that if you are a child of God, He walks WITH you! Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (Psalms 23:4 NLT) A pastor went to visit a mother whose son had been killed. When he arrived at her house, she was in her bedroom and would not come out to talk to anyone. Wanting to help, the minister sat beside the distraught mother and said nothing for awhile. Later he began to softly say, “The Lord Is My Shepherd, I shall not want” The mother began to listen. When h

Prayer Walking Ministry Begins Saturday, May 28

By God’s love and grace, He has blessed our church beyond measure. He continues to give us a presence in the Homeland Park Community as well as an impact on our region's state and world. When things are going well, the temptation is to stay in a comfort zone, unfortunately the Bible says nothing about doing that.  Did you know that Homeland Park Baptist Church originated at a church plant to reach the people of the down and out “Tin Town” community. Small tin shacks stood cramped close together where our field and family life center are now. A few people had a burden for those in need and did something about it.  While our church has a burden for our community today, we must be out “in” our community. Starting on May 28th @ 10:00 am I will begin this new ministry of prayer walking in our community. For one day a month I will be walking the streets of Homeland Park for the sole purpose of praying for those people and houses that I pass. I am prepared to do this alone, but pra
