PASTOR’S POST Dear Church Family, Over recent days, God has reminded me of a principle He showed me in His word which is, “Nothing touches us that does not go through God’s hands.” Whether it be the trials of Job, the betrayal of Joseph’s family, the tragedy in David’s family or the trials Jesus endured, God is in control. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28 (NLT) Many like to hold on to the promise that everything happens for a reason, but the truth is this verse only applies to believers who are “called” to His purpose. As a Christian we are called to be His church and share the gospel with others. May we not let these momentary trials lull us to sleep in our service for Him. The devil does not deserve the victory.   Friday October, 29 6:30-7:30 PM In the Family Life Center (GYM) Church Family and Community - Bring your children and join us for our annual no Trunks just Treats event. Instead of using the trunks of our cars this year, we will have tables in the Family Life Center (Gym) filled with candy and games. The tables will be appropriately spaced apart for safety. For Those Wishing to Participate: Dressing up and decorating your table is not a requirement to participate, but is always appreciated. As you can imagine, there is a large demand for candy as well. If you cannot attend but would like to donate candy, please bring it to the HPBC Bible Study Office when you come to church or drop it off at the church office from Monday through Thursday - 8 AM until 12 PM.

  Dear church family,   I write this with a full heart just before our third of four nights of VBS. God is moving in so many ways through the life of our church. This modest article cannot contain all that He is doing. I have always known that our church is a body of loving people that love others and their community. After many years of prayers and preaching we have seen many of our older loved one’s graduate to their heavenly home as well as God doing a new work in our young families. VBS has been a perfect example of that.   Many of our older members charted the way for years in serving as leaders and teaching children. Some are still doing so but we are seeing another wave of leadership emerge in our young families. Children are hearing the gospel message of Jesus Christ and their parents are learning the blessings of using their gifts to serve Him through the church.   PASTOR’S POST Let Us Run The Race Together  “ . . .  let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 Dear Church Family,   I want to thank you all for standing strong and working together during the past 10 months. Little did we know how God would change the landscape of the way we worship and teach us how to serve Him in new ways. Whether you worshipped online, in your car or in a pew, God has brought us all to a greater understanding and appreciation of who He is. Many could not and still cannot attend church due to their health or physical limitation, however their prayers, support and encouragement have been vital in these days. The church is the body of believers, not the building and HPBC has thrived in the midst of this pandemic.   The Covid-19 Coronavirus will not totally go away anytime soon, however it has slowed down. In these days God has laid it on the heart of our leadership and myself to m...

ALL-IN: Catch the Vision Leadership & Interest Meeting Tuesday, January 7th @ 6:00pm God has blessed our church with another year to connect people with God and others.  Everything that takes place at our church is the result of our gracious God, committed leaders and praying members.  2019 was a year of growth for our church. It is now more important than ever to keep the vision of our purpose before us.  The purpose of this meeting is a look into what has worked in the last year, what has not worked and what our future could be. This year will be a defining moment for our church.  We must be intentional in reaching the lost and encouraging those God has entrusted us with to serve. God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Yesterday marked a milestone in our church.   A few of our Senior Adults ventured out to go to see Dennis Swanberg at Seneca Baptist Church and have lunch afterward.  It was a great ministry event!  These ladies are some of the most bravest and courageous women I know because all but two and myself were involved in that horrible accident over a year ago.  We all agreed that we had to get back on the bus to not give the devil or fear victory.  God is greater and I am so proud of these women! - Pastor James

Our church experienced an emotional and touching service this past Sunday as we recommissioned our church bus for ministry.  For those that do not know, at the end of September 2016 this bus was carrying the Pastor and a group of Senior adults on a day trip to Helen, Ga.  While traveling on I-85 they were in a terrible accident.  Many of our members were hospitalized and one eventually passed away.  This has been a difficult time for our church, however God is not done with HPBC yet. Our church has experienced the love and support of our members, other churches, our community and far above what we could have imagined.  Why did God allow this to happen?  That is the wrong question to ask because there will never be a concrete answer on this side of heaven.   EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA March 26th 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Freedom Center South Campus   We will be taking our children to this event. The bus will leave at 10:45 AM.   Donations of individually wrapped candy are needed.   Contact Mary Lou Finley with any questions at 864-375-1544.

MISSION ACTION The Mission Action Project for the month of August will be school supplies, including backpacks. A supply list for all District V schools will be available Sunday. These items will be distributed at the Fall Out of Summer Spectacular on Sunday, August 23rd.     The August emphasis for Operation Christmas Child is pens, pencils and erasers.   Please leave these in the Bible Study Office.

On the evening of August 23rd Homeland Park Baptist Church will host an outreach to our community. Saturday August 22nd @ 10:00 AM - We need volunteers to help pass out flyers to our community advertising the next day's event.   With enough people we can be finished by noon.   We need walkers, drivers and supporters. Sunday, August 23rd @ 5:00 PM - We will be meeting in and around our Family Life Center in lieu of our Evening Worship Service.   There will be an inflatable bouncy house and 16’ slide for the children as well as snow cones and hotdogs for everyone.   We would like for our church members to bring Backpacks and Back to School supplies to give to our children in our community and local public schools as part of our Mission Action. God used this event in a great way in our church the past two years, we pray for the same this year.   Come be a part of this amazing night! Set-Up Crews Please Arrive by 4:00 PM.

Wrightsville Beach, NC I often tell people who visit a church that coming to worship services is a great place to start.  You can get an idea of what the people are like, find out if they are friendly and make sure the Bible is being proclaimed through worship and preaching from the pulpit. However, the best way to truly experience a church is by plugging into a Bible Study Small Group.  Small Groups allow you to connect with people and that is the goal of the church, to connect with God and connect with people.  The above picture was taken this summer during our mini-vacation and serves as a great illustration.  One can stand on the beach and look at the majesty of the ocean and the power of the waves.  The only way to truly experience the ocean is by jumping in. I can attest to the power of a small group.  As a teenager, I could not believe that there were students my age that actually loved God and wanted to show me how to do the same....

Do you remember getting an Easter basket as a child?  In the midst of all the colored eggs, plastic grass and loose wrapped candy there sat the CHOCOLATE BUNNY!.  I was in chocolate heaven as I gazed at that mound of chocolaty goodness. I remember the disappointment of discovering the bunny was not ALL chocolate. it was inside.  As we continue our morning series through Ecclesiastes we find our life is full of chocolate bunnies.  Things we think will bring satisfaction only leave us empty and unfulfilled.  King Solomon teaches that everything apart from God is temporary and fleeting.  Know that God loves you and wants to be the one thing that fills your life completely if you let him.  Join us as we make this Life Revolution! Commit to memorizing this statement: "My worth is not found in the toys I accumulate or the titles I achieve but only in the testimony of what Christ has done for me, in me and through me."

Be sure to attend worship this Sunday morning (February 17th) as we begin our new series in the book of Ecclesiastes. We will hear from and expert that knew what it meant to serve God and have everything   Let us learn over the next few weeks from one of the wisest men that ever lived!  Services begin at 10:30 am.
