As we get older, our lives begin to get stuck into a pattern of daily events that become routine, religious and habitual.  We wake to eat breakfast, go to work or school, come home, rest, begin our evening regiment of activities with our family, watch a little television and go to bed only to get up the next morning and do it all over again.  The benefit of having a routine keeps us focused and disciplined, unless the routine is destructive.  The pattern of our lives produce a fruit in our lives that not only help sustain us but impact those around us.  Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit because you can do nothing without me.” - John 15:5 (HCSB)  The word “remains” three things: 1.  Jesus gives us a place .  Do you remember the last time you had a family dinner? From an early age I was taught how to set a place setting.  Put the fork on this side, make the blades of the knife face this way, fold the napk

The Church In Tin Town

CHURCH HISTORY THE CHURCH IN TIN TOWN BY Ellen B Watson Greenwood, South Carolina It all began with a tattered Christmas card, a boy who needed help, and a young woman who cared. Homeland Park Baptist Church had its seed planted in a Christmas card written to a lonely little boy in a reform school. A newspaper account of a youngster in trouble burdened the heart of a young Christian lady, Miss Frances Murphy, who later married Clyde Glenn. At Christmas time she sent a card to the little fellow. In a few weeks a soiled envelope with a child’s handwriting was received. On the same Christmas card that had been sent was this simple message, “Please find my mother and tell her to write me.” With assistance from postal authorities the mother was finally located in an area south of Anderson known as “Tin Town.” From this meeting with the mother and subsequent visits into the community, the need for God and His Word was felt by Miss Murphy. New Improvements

We would like to thank our Building Maintenance committee for their work in improving our church for the glory of God and the spreading of the gospel. After only a week, they have fixed their first work order by securing some loose pews in the sanctuary. They also did some upgrades to make entering the left side of our church safer. New ramps and rails for the left entrance of our church End caps for the safety rails leading to our Family Life Center. If you notice items that need to be brought to the Building Maintenance Committee, please fill out a work order which can be found in the office or your Sunday School class room.  Thanks again Odell and Larry! We appreciate everything you are doing! Everyone remember that the greatest journeys start with a first step! Let us walk together.
