Revival Recap for Tuesday and Wednesday

Revival Recap Day 3
September 30th, 2014

Rev. Mark Cannon spoke from Matthew 14 where Jesus calls Peter to get out of the boat, walk on water and come to Him. His message to us was, "You'll never walk on water if you never get into the boat and go through the storm."  I have known Mark for a long time and I could not be prouder of how God is blessing this young man and His family.

We were also blessed by the music of our worship leader Tammy Sanders and her friend Nancy Glenn who sang the popular Larnelle Harris and Sandi Patti duet, "I've Just Seen Jesus"

Revival Recap Day 4

October 1st, 2014

Several members of Mosiac which is Anderson University's worship band led us in heart felt worship with a mixture of hymns and choruses.  I cannot thank them enough for their ministry last night.

Miguel Chavis spoke from Matthew 19 on the dangers have having our identity based on anything other than Christ.  He used the account of the rich young ruler who would not sell his earthly wealth in exchange for eternal wealth.

With our last night being presented as "youth night" I want to share a few observations:

1)  Both the band and Miguel spent time interacting with the youth BEFORE the service. I cannot overemphasize the importance of a visiting leader doing that. They were forming bridges with the students.

2)  The youth and children who attended actually engaged during the worship time.  I was moved to see them grab pew bibles and help one another turn to the scriptures that were being read.

3)  Even though it was "youth night", we had tremendous support from our older members.  They were there encouraging the kids and singing along and participating in worship.

Our "Revival At The Park" could not have gone any better.  All praise goes to God for that. Also, none of this would not have been possible without a wonderful team of leaders and volunteers.  Thank you God, for moving and I am so blessed to be a part of HPBC.

In Him,

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s
