Weekly Youth Update: 2/24 - 3/1

The Homeland Park youth had an amazing time of fellowship with the rest of the church body at our Valentine’s Party! We made Valentine’s for our shut-ins and spent time with the church around a great meal. Nights like these are great blessings as the youth are able to meet and get to know strong believers who are amazing examples of being faithful followers of our Lord!

This week we have two items on our youth calendar. First, we will return to our normal Bible study schedule. We will be continuing our Questions series as we study how God answers prayer. The Family Life Center will open at 6:00 Wednesday night; Bible study will begin at 6:30 and end by 7:30. We hope that you are able to join for a great time of growth, fellowship, and fun! Don’t forget to invite family and friends!

The other event on our youth calendar is our “Youth Olympics” from 1:00-3:00 Saturday afternoon, March 1 (lunch will not be provided). We will be on the field next to the Family Life Center playing games such as kickball and flag football! Invite your friends and family to come for what will definitely be an amazing time!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!

Children's Church

Beginning Sunday, September 18th, there will be Children’s Church for children ages four years   through 5th grade. The children will be dismissed during the morning worship service when the choir comes down from the choir loft. Phyllis Swaney, our Children’s Church Leader, will stand by the piano for the children.
