Pastor's Post for July

Opportunity

Make the word “opportunity” your focus for the month of July. Opportunity can mean many things for many people. The most important aspect of opportunity is the fact that it requires a decision that is followed up with action that reflects our priorities.

Ephesians 5:15-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but

like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every

     opportunity in these evil days.

It comes as no surprise to us that we all have the same 24 hours a day to live our lives until our time is up. It is also no surprise that the days we live in are evil. How do we turn the tide in our favor? Paul tells us to “make the most of every opportunity”. The King James Version of the above verse tells us to “redeem” our time.

Do not just spend this summer with no plan. Take the opportunity to grow in your walk with God, spend quality time with your family, read a book or do something that God has been calling you to do. Just spending our time to make ourselves happy in this world will mean nothing if we are not investing it in things that will impact God’s Kingdom. Evaluate every opportunity and make the most of it for God’s glory and your fulfillment. Enjoy your summer and emerge stronger than when you started it.

In Him,

Pastor James

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s
