God Walks With You - Pastor's Post for August 2022

God Walks With You!

The month of August is a pivotal month.  The summer is winding down and for many families the reality of the grind is approaching.  School schedules, day care, jobs, and other commitments resume as the hopes of cooler weather approach.  For students, another year in school offers a chance to start fresh.  Whether you are looking for a new start or simply getting back into the grind, take comfort in the fact that if you are a child of God, He walks WITH you!

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (Psalms 23:4 NLT)

A pastor went to visit a mother whose son had been killed. When he arrived at her house, she was in her bedroom and would not come out to talk to anyone. Wanting to help, the minister sat beside the distraught mother and said nothing for awhile. Later he began to softly say, “The Lord Is My Shepherd, I shall not want” The mother began to listen. When he got to verse four, she joined him in saying, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” After that moment, the mother smiled and said “I see it differently now.”

Regardless of what you are going through, as a child of God, He walks through it with you.  He has a plan and He will love you through it. Much like a father that tightly holds the hand of their child while walking down the sidewalk of a busy street, God’s hand holds yours.  Whether you are a child of God or still trying to figure Him out, the time to hold on to Him is now.  If you walk with Him, He will never let you go!

In Him,

Pastor James

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s
