Christmas Eve Worship Service

We are excited to invite you and your entire family to our Christmas Eve Worship at Homeland Park Baptist Church.  We will gather in the sanctuary at 7:00 pm for a brief time of worship and celebration of the most beautiful gift ever given, the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Pastor James will also have a children’s message for all who attend.  Dress for this service is “Christmas Casual” so bring your family to worship with your Homeland Park family.  We hope to see you here. For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Tough Questions On Sunday Nights

Many Christians and non-believers have questions that they feel are too serious to ask or they think that God will be offended if they even ask.  God loves us and gave His greatest gift to bring us back to Him.  As a loving Father, He knows we will have times of doubt and anger. It is important that we channel our questions to Him and His word, not worldly wisdom and selfishness.  Join us on Sunday nights (6:00 PM) at Homeland Park Baptist Church as we ask God the tough questions and find the answers in the Bible. Christmas Caroling and Chili Cook Off on December 9

Come join us for a time of spreading Christmas cheer to our church members who are home bound and in nursing homes.  The desperately need reminders at Christmas that God loves them and so does their church.  We need all of our families to meet at the church at 4:00 PM.  We will use the vans and other vehicles to split into caroling groups.  You do not have to be a singer to do this, you just need to be willing to spread God’s love to those who need it.  Tammy is making some song books with our Christmas favorites for us to sing.  After caroling we will all meet at the Family Life Center at 6:00 pm for a Chili Cook-Off.  We are asking our members to bring their special Chili dishes to be judged for the title of best Christmas Chili.  If you do not cook Chili then bring some desserts or cornbread.  HPBC will furnish the drinks and fixings for the Chili.  Let’s make this a favorite HPBC family tradition.

Seeing The Many Faces of God

During the first days of my ministry here at HPBC, I have had the privilege of meeting some of our church members who are in medical care facilities.  Many times we see names on a prayer list and pray for them without "really" knowing them.  It is important for our church to never forget those who cannot physically attend worship services.  They may not be able to come into the building, but they are still members and can do great things for God in their daily lives.  If you have not taken the time to sit down with some of these saints, then you should.  You will be better for it by seeing God working in their lives. Here are some of the folks I met today. In Him, Pastor James Lena Bell Brewster with Her Niece Alice NHC Nursing Home Harold Cowart Richard M. Serving At The Cross Ministries Soup Kitchen

I had the privilege of serving at the Cross Ministries Soup Kitchen with Mrs. Pauline Tate today.  Cross Ministries is a network of local Anderson churches that work together to minister to the needy.  A food pantry and soup kitchen are open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.  Different churches cover different days.  You can impact your community by serving for one hour and a half and you will be the one that gets the blessing.  Look in our weekly bulletin to see when you can sign up for a time slot.  You won't regret it. In Him, Pastor James The Cross Ministries Hub Mrs. Pauline Tate serving some great food including her homemade cheeseburger casserole. Our customers were very grateful for the food. They look just like you and me. Clothes Pantry to the left, Soup Kitchen to the right. God gave us the privilege of serving 30 plates today.

Our Part In Church Growth

CHURCH 101 Wednesday Night Bible Study We are having a great time studying the Bible on Wednesday nights as we go through the book of Acts and see the dynamic growth of the very first church.  We know that there is no secret formula one can buy or sell that will automatically cause church growth.  It is a result of the work God is doing in the lives of individuals within the church.  When they grow, the church grows.  God is calling all of us to step up our game and be more intentional in doing what He asks of us.  Remember that God is blessing churches that have FAITH and VISION .  Our prayer and focus in coming days will be three fold.  Be a people that are filled by the Holy Spirit who intentionally share their faith. (Acts 2:1-4) Expect and Inspect preaching to make sure it is Biblical and useful for teaching us to do what is right and correcting us when we do wrong.  (2 Timothy 3:16) Follow through and disciple those that become Christians (Colossians 2:6-7) .  Teac

Faith Family and Fuddruckers

We had a tremendous day at Homeland Park! God blessed us with a great number of people in Sunday morning Bible study as well as our morning and evening worship services.   We were all thankful for the ability to worship together due to the sacrifice of our Veterans. There are new faces as well as familiar  ones who are returning to see the work God is doing here each Sunday. I pray more continue to plug into what He is doing here. Sunday night after church Donna and I had an opportunity to take some of our young people out to dinner at Fuddruckers.  The van was PACKED :)  It was great to fellowship with such wonderful youth and adults.  The food was delicious too!

Cole and Ace Hit The Road

Gentlemen Start Your Engines! One of my projects for this morning was to see if both the church vans would crank this morning since Donna and I are taking our youth out for an Afterglow to Fuddruckers after church Sunday night.  I heard that they have not run in awhile so I thought there is no time like the present to try them out.  The white van "Ace" took a moment but fired right up.  "Cole" needed a little help from "Ace" via some jumper cables to wake up but both are in working order.  Just like everyone they need a little TLC but that will come soon enough.  I am glad to know that our church has these to vans and I pray they stay on the road often as we take people back and forth to church and go to special events.  If you would like to help give Ace and Cole some TLC with a bath or a look over just email me to let me know by calling the church office or emailing me ( pastorjames@homelandparkbc.org ).  If you want to know how they got their name
