Weekly Youth Update: 8/19-8/25

The next two weeks will be a little bit busier for the youth! We will have our usual Wednesday night Bible study at 6:30 in the Family Life Center. We are looking forward to our great time of fellowship as we study Psalm 1! Last week we concluded our short series of the prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament and our new study series will start September 4th. More information about it will be posted next week.

This Sunday evening, from 5:00-7:00, we will be hosting the “Fall Out of Summer Spectacular” at the church. Invite friends and family for a fun night of free food and games and worship! More information can be found here.

Finally, next Wednesday night, August 28th, our youth will join other area youth ministries at New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson for their “Back to School Rally.” The rally lasts from 6:30-8:00 that evening and we will meet here at the church at 6:00 to travel together. They will be providing pizza and snacks and each person should bring $2 to help cover the food costs. The Providence Praise Band will lead the worship service that evening and Kris Scott from C3 Church will be giving the message. We will arrive back shortly after 8:15. We certainly hope you will be able to attend and let friends and family know in case they want to join!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

Children's Church

Beginning Sunday, September 18th, there will be Children’s Church for children ages four years   through 5th grade. The children will be dismissed during the morning worship service when the choir comes down from the choir loft. Phyllis Swaney, our Children’s Church Leader, will stand by the piano for the children.

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!
