Pastor's Post: Worshiping Expectantly (Genesis 4:26)

I am so excited to be meeting in person on Sunday after only meeting virtually for the past two weeks on facebook live. I ran across this thought the other day. Moses wrote in Genesis about creation this gem: Genesis 4:26 NLT When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the Lord by name. This is the first time since creation and the fall of man where worship was recorded as happening.  This is the “genesis” of how and why we worship today.  We do not worship an unnamed impersonal God.  We worship “Yahweh” (“I Am”)!  He is our creator, Heavenly father.  Worship is not an obligation, it is a privilege! It is an expression of our love for God for all He has given us!  I encourage you to worship Him Sunday with other believers.  Whether it be with our church family or another one.  Worship corporately with those who want to do the same.  Let’s not take our worship opportunities for granted but vi...

Behind The Scenes Look At The Praise Team

Hey Everyone! I wanted to take a second to give you a little "behind the scenes" look at our Praise Team. We are not trying to "make it" or be a contestant on a musical reality show. We are simply using the resources God has given us to serve and worship Him. Hopefully, others join to worship Him as well. This was our prayer before the first note was struck Sunday, "God, the music we play today was created by you and for you. May the words, instruments, and harmonies be pleasing to you. May it direct our gaze and hearts to you this morning." Whether from the stage or from the pew, all worship is for Him! Use your voices and abilities from the pews or the stage. All of it honors Him! - Pastor James Photo by Marius Masalar on Unsplash

Fueling Our Launch: Thankfulness And The Mission To M.A.R.S.

Dear Beloved HPBC Family, I am writing with a thankful heart.. During the month of October, You all showered Donna and I with much love and gifts. We are thankful everyday for God allowing us to lead you, His people.  I am also grateful for the progress we have made in the last few months of our “Mission To M.A.R.S” Ministry Model. Additional Deacons have been voted into service, the elected Leadership Recruitment Team has met and we have begun the coaching process by meeting with our First Impressions Team. We all must be  grateful for the critical elements God has established and given us, which make our mission possible. Now that our leadership team is beginning to move, we are in the recruitment phase of staffing our teams for lift off. You Are the Fuel for Lift Off! This is the most challenging initial phase, requiring immense effort and momentum to get our teams and ministries operational and effective. Just as a rocket requires tremendous effort and fuel to overc...

Pastor's Post for November 2024: A True Disciple

A True Disciple Pastor’s Post for November 2024 Newsletter Oswald Chambers in his devotional entitled, My Utmost for His Highest writes, "A true disciple is one who has his new name written all over himself-interest, pride, and self-sufficiency have been completely erased." Pride is the sin of making "self" our god.”  A disciple is someone who learns from someone else.  Much like a student from a teacher or an apprentice learning a trade.  As a disciple of Christ we are to learn from Him.  This is accomplished by reading His word (The Bible) and applying it to our lives.  As you experience God throughout the month of November, make a conscious effort to learn from Christ.  Learn how to be humble, thankful, determined and loving towards others.  Make spending time with your heavenly Father a priority and make your focus to please Him and love others before meeting your needs first.  Our world is filled with enough people who claim to be a di...

Church Is On The Sunday!

Hey everyone! As of now, we still have power at the church, so we're planning to hold our regular services. Bible study starts at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m., and choir rehearsal at 4 p.m. If the internet is still down, we might not be able to stream the services. I know many of you, like Donna and me, still don't have power, and it'll be tough to make it, but I know that God will honor your efforts. In times like these, we need our church more than ever, and our church needs you for love, support, and prayer. See you Sunday! - Pastor James

Drifting Sermon Series in Malachi Begins This Sunday

This Sunday, embark on a journey through the prophetic words of Malachi. In this timely book, God calls His people to return to Him, exposing the troubled areas of a world that has wandered astray. Join us as we discover the path back to God's heart.

We are encouraging our church and others to get some great training on Church Safety. (Oct 12 @ 10:00 am - Noon)

Our church is pleased to offer a seminar to other local churches on how to establish a Church Safety Team. Church safety is everyone's responsibility, and it's unwise to assume it could never happen to us. Lt. Todd Caron is an expert at equipping churches for safety, and we're privileged to host this event. The seminar will be held on October 12th, from 10 AM to Noon in our sanctuary. It is free and open to any church that has or is considering starting a Safety Team. To register, please email tcaron@andersonsheriff.com

Life After Death Preaching Series Begins on August 18th in the Sunday AM Service

Sunday morning we begin a new preaching series through the book of 1 Thessalonians. The concept of life after death is foundational to the Christian faith. Whether it is the warmth of feeling the light of Christ forgiving you of all your sins and gaining a “Start Over” or the dull assurance that a loved one's funeral  is not the end. As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”. This verse emphasizes that when someone places their faith in Jesus, they are regenerated, or born again into a new life. This new life isn't something Christians wait for after death; it starts the moment they say "yes" to Christ.  1 Thessalonians was written by the Apostle Paul to a young church filled with people who were early in their faith. They were experiencing real problems in a world that was not friendly to their Christian faith, just like you and I today. Many of the probl...

Pastor’s Posts for May 2024: Jesus’ Yoke

Matthew 11:29 (NLT)  “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” The parable of the "yoke" is well-known among those raised in the church, often recited when feeling overwhelmed. This passage is found in Matthew 11:28–30, where Jesus invites the weary and burdened to find rest. However, it does not imply that He will free us from putting any effort in serving Him. The rest Jesus is describing is a rest for our soul. It addresses the excessive religious expectations imposed on believers by the Pharisees. The relentless pursuit of self-righteousness and the unattainable goal of perfectly keeping the ten commandments was futile to His audience. If we could achieve such perfection, we would no longer need Jesus, as we would be inherently worthy in God's eyes. Jesus' message is that we are not required to bear the heavy burden of striving to be "good enough" to earn our way into heav...

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!
