Weekly Youth Update: 7/7 - 7/13

This Wednesday night, the Homeland Park youth and children’s ministries will head to Boulevard Lanes in Anderson for a night of bowling! If you are interested in coming, please arrive at the church Wednesday night by 5:45 to sign the permission form. We will leave at 6:00 and arrive back at the church by 8:30. Please bring the following:

-          Signed permission form
-          $5 to cover shoes and two games
-          Socks

Saturday, July 19, is the cleaning day for the youth at the church. We will be cleaning and reorganizing the youth rooms. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. The cleaning will start at 10:00 am in the Family Life Center and we will finish at 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.

Finally, we will be going to Greenville-Pickens Speedway for a night of high-energy racing Saturday night, July 26! The racing begins at 8:00 Saturday evening and lasts until 10:30. Tickets are $10 each and you need to bring about $10 for dinner. We will meet at the church at 5:30 that evening to leave for the track and we will eat on the way. We should arrive back at the church between 11:30 and 12:00 that night. If you want to join us, please send me an email!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us.
