Weekly Youth Update: 7/14 - 7/20

This past Wednesday night, the youth had an excellent time bowling and hanging out! Experiencing time in and around Anderson is always a blast with the Homeland Park youth!

We will return to our normal Bible study meeting schedule for the next two Wednesday nights (7/16 & 7/23). The Family Life Center will open at 6:00 for anyone wanting to hangout. Bible study starts at 6:30 and lasts until 7:30. On the final Wednesday night in July, we will have a youth movie night in the youth Sunday school room! We hope to see you there!

This Saturday, July 19, the youth will gather in the Family Life Center at 10 AM for a few hours of cleaning and decoration! Our plan is to have the youth meeting areas looking sharp for the start of the new school year. The event will be at the church from 10 AM -2 PM and lunch will be provided! Join us for fun and hard work.

Finally, we will be going to Greenville-Pickens Speedway for a night of high-energy racing Saturday night, July 26! The racing begins at 8:00 Saturday evening and lasts until 10:30. Tickets are $10 each and you need to bring about $10 for dinner. We will meet at the church at 5:30 that evening to leave for the track and we will eat on the way. We should arrive back at the church between 11:30 and 12:00 that night. If you want to join us, please send me an email!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!
