Weekly Youth Update: 3/17 - 3/23

The Homeland Park Youth had a great study last week on heaven and hell. We discussed what heaven and hell were like and how a person only receives eternal life when he or she repents of his or her sins and trusts in Jesus and His life, death, and resurrection alone for salvation. This lesson really challenged us to remember the eternal consequences of sin every person faces but the hope of eternal life in Jesus which God has so readily made available.

Wednesday evening, we will finish our Questions series with a review of the series and a time for sharing. We will share some things we learned, praises for God’s great work, and prayers requests for ourselves and those around us. The Family Life Center will open at 6:00 for hanging out and Bible study will last from 6:30-7:30. We hope that you will be able to join us for this great time of fellowship, growth in the Lord, and fun!

Next Wednesday, March 26, we will join Varennes Heights Baptist Church for the second part of our “March Madness” event from 6-8 pm in the Family Life Center! Come for various basketball games and contests, other fun games, and a great time to relax and hang out with friends!

Saturday, April 5, the Homeland Park Youth will be going for a hike at the Oconee Station State Historic Site from 9 am – 2 pm! Please bring your own lunch, water battle, and $2 for gas. We will have a great time seeing and experiencing God’s creation in awesome fellowship!

Finally, I am excited to announce our summer youth beach retreat! We are going to Wilmington, NC, and staying at Pastor James’ old church, Pine Valley Baptist Church, for a weekend of learning, fellowship, and fun. More information will be coming soon and the date for the retreat is June 26-June29! Mark it on your calendar!

We have a lot coming up in the next few months so be ready! If you have any questions, feel free to email me at jason@homelandparkbc.org!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!
