Weekly Youth Update: 3/31 - 4/6

Last week, we had the finale for our “March Madness” event with Varennes Heights Baptist Church. We experienced an awesome time with their youth in fellowship, playing basketball, and learning more about what Jesus has done for us! These events are great opportunities for us to enjoy time with other believers in our community!

Wednesday night, April 2, our friend Brock Bass will be teaching the youth during our normal Bible study time, from 6:30-7:30! Brock is a faithful servant and a great example of one who loves the Lord and desires to see lost people come to salvation. We hope that you will join us for this time as he shares with us the truths of Scripture and reflects on what the Lord has done in his life. The Family Life Center opens at 6:00 for anyone wanting to hang out and we hope that you will invite family and friends to come!

This Saturday, April 5, the youth will go on a hike to the Oconee Station State Historic Site to see Station Cove Falls! We will meet and leave from the church at 9 am and arrive back around 2 pm. Please bring the following:
- signed permission forms
- your own lunch
- a bottle of water
- comfortable, closed-toe shoes
- $2 to help cover gas.
We are looking forward to spending the day together and enjoying God’s glorious creation!

Starting next Wednesday, April 9, we will begin our new Wednesday night Bible study series in Colossians. My prayer is that we grow in our understanding of who Jesus is, what He has done, how that changes their lives, and how we must respond to Him!

Finally, the big summer youth retreat is coming up! We are going to Wilmington and staying at Pine Valley Baptist Church from June 26-29! More details are coming soon!

If you have any questions, please email me at jason@homelandparkbc.org!

Pictures from Our Send Off for Nathan and Jody O'Neill

Last night was bittersweet for us as we said goodbye to our youth Pastor Nathan O'Neill and his wife Jody. They both have served well here and we know God will continue to bless them as Nathan goes to serve in his new ministry. Our love and prayers go with them.

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

Pastor's Post: Worshiping Expectantly (Genesis 4:26)

I am so excited to be meeting in person on Sunday after only meeting virtually for the past two weeks on facebook live. I ran across this thought the other day. Moses wrote in Genesis about creation this gem: Genesis 4:26 NLT When Seth grew up, he had a son and named him Enosh. At that time people first began to worship the Lord by name. This is the first time since creation and the fall of man where worship was recorded as happening.  This is the “genesis” of how and why we worship today.  We do not worship an unnamed impersonal God.  We worship “Yahweh” (“I Am”)!  He is our creator, Heavenly father.  Worship is not an obligation, it is a privilege! It is an expression of our love for God for all He has given us!  I encourage you to worship Him Sunday with other believers.  Whether it be with our church family or another one.  Worship corporately with those who want to do the same.  Let’s not take our worship opportunities for granted but vi...
