Weekly Youth Update: 4/06 - 4/12

The Homeland Park youth had an amazing week! We hosted our first 5-on-5 basketball tournament in partnership with Greater Love Bible Church! This was an extremely successful event as it allowed us to share the Gospel and build deeper relationships with members of our community. Due to logistics, we changed the format to a 3-on-3 to allow time for longer games and a deeper tournament. Some pictures are posted below showing some of the games, the winners, and some of the awards given.

Patrick Harrison, pastor of Greater Love Bible Church, opened the tournament with our devotional.

Closing with a final devotional.

Thank you to all who helped this past week. We had many church members who offered their time to pull this event off! Our food committee stepped in and served us wonderfully. Several members kept a watchful eye and ran various side activities. Other members served beforehand by allowing us to make major steps in renovating our youth room by helping to take care of maintenance work and assemble some of our new furnishings! I am blown away by the love of our church body towards one another and to the community. Their love and service made it possible to create an environment where the Gospel could be proclaimed and relationships could begin and deepen! Thank you again!

This week, we will crank back right into Bible study! Join us Wednesday night, from 6:30-7:30 in the Loft of the Family Life Center! Anyone wanting to hang out beforehand may arrive at 6:00 when the Family Life Center opens. Invite your friends and family to come for an awesome time together!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!

Children's Church

Beginning Sunday, September 18th, there will be Children’s Church for children ages four years   through 5th grade. The children will be dismissed during the morning worship service when the choir comes down from the choir loft. Phyllis Swaney, our Children’s Church Leader, will stand by the piano for the children.
