Weekly Youth Update: 6/1-6/7

Last week, we concluded on series through the book of Proverbs. Learning about the wisdom of God was a great joy and we pray will lead to continued life change in the lives of our students! This week, the Homeland Park Youth will have their monthly First Wednesday Student Night! These nights give us an opportunity to deepen our relationships through devotion, prayer, games, and fun! First Wednesday Student Night is from 6:30-7:30 in the Loft of the Family Life Center. The gym opens at 6:00 for anyone wanting to hangout beforehand. Invite your friends and we will see you there!

This Friday night is one of our two summer Game Nights! From 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, bring your friends to relax and hang out as you recover from a year of school!

Saturday, the Homeland Park Baptist Church men will host a biscuit breakfast in the Family Life Center from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. All of our men, from boys to youth to adults, are invited to join us for this event. We will get our Saturday started by enjoying fellowship and have a brief devotion for our Pastor. Bring A Friend! Donations to cover the cost of the biscuits are appreciated but not required.

Below is a schedule of our summer activities! We pray these events grow us closer to the Lord and continue to deepen relationships. Also, remember our Wednesday night meeting times will still be each week, from 6:30-7:30! Our regular Wednesday night meetings will be just as exciting as the summer socials!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this...

The Wondrous Cross

Attention all! As you drive by or visit our church, take a moment to admire the beautiful cross located to the right of our main entrance. This Easter season, we'll be using this cross to commemorate the special days leading up to Jesus' glorious resurrection. Look for the color of the sash to change each day, reflecting the significance of the holy week. A big thank you to Sherry, Ann and Jimmy for making this beautiful cross possible! To God Be The Glory!

Children's Church

Beginning Sunday, September 18th, there will be Children’s Church for children ages four years   through 5th grade. The children will be dismissed during the morning worship service when the choir comes down from the choir loft. Phyllis Swaney, our Children’s Church Leader, will stand by the piano for the children.
