Weekly Youth Update: 6/22-6/28

Last week, the Homeland Park Baptist Church youth joined the youth ministries from Southside Baptist Church and Eureka Baptist for COLA WARS! I'll have an update next week detailing more of the event, but we had an amazing time in fellowship, worship, and hearing the Gospel proclaimed! Check back next week for more information!

This week, our church is hosting Vacation Bible School! We had a great turn out on our first night, both from participants and volunteers. Continue to pray for our group as the Gospel is shared and relationships are built. If you weren’t able to make it out last night, be here today through Thursday! Students who have just finished 6th-12th grade will be volunteering. Students who have just completed 5th grade will be attending VBS as participants.

This Wednesday, middle school and high school students are invited from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for ultimate frisbee and flag football on the fields beside the Family Life Center. Plenty of water will be provided so all you need to bring is your game face! If the weather is too hot, we will move inside for basketball.

On Saturday, June 26, the youth will head to Six Flags for a day of thrills and fun! The cost for the trip is $30. To attend, they must have the appropriate forms signed and attend 70% of the Wednesday nights from now through July 22. A $15 deposit is due by July 8.

Below is the rest of our schedule for our summer activities! We pray these events grow us closer to the Lord and continue to deepen relationships. Also, remember our Wednesday night meeting times will still be each week, from 6:30-7:30! Our regular Wednesday night meetings will be just as exciting as the summer socials!

Confession, Reflection and The Lord's Supper

Yesterday, our church observed the ordinance of the Lord''s Supper or Communion as some call it.  Our church is blessed to have a committee that prepares this for us on every fifth Sunday.  This practice is designed to take us back in our hearts and minds to that dreadful night where Jesus sat at a table with His disciples to prepare them for His pending crucifixion .   The purpose of the Lord's Supper is not for us to go through the motions, but to remember all that Christ did for us.  His body was broken and blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.  Communion is a time to reflect, appreciate and give honor to Jesus for what He endured for us. This ordinance is not for everyone.  This is only to be taken by those who are believers and accepted Jesus as their ultimate forgiver and leader.  To partake in this service in an unworthy state is sin. 1 Corinthians 11:27 (NLT) 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of s
